Admission and scholarship applications for SGHS are due Friday, January 19, 2024. Admission and scholarship applications for BCP are due Wednesday, January 31, 2024; however, after these initial application deadline(s) we continue to accept applications for all grade levels and issue acceptances on a rolling basis, if space is available. Financial aid applications must be submitted by February 1, 2024, for priority consideration and inclusion of financial aid with an admissions offer.

We recognize independent school tuition can feel prohibitive to many families but know that we are committed to making a BSoR education as affordable and accessible to as many families as possible. Over 65% of BSoR students receive some form of tuition assistance. Students at both SGHS and BCP are required to take the SSAT, submit transcripts and recommendations (math, English, and administrative), and interview with someone from the admissions team. To view all requirements for admission, visit Application Process.

Don’t stress about the interview. The personal interview is simply a conversation where our admissions team wants to get the applicant better. Applicants will be asked several questions regarding their applications and their interest in our schools. This is also a great opportunity for applicants to ask us questions. The interview is informal and relaxed; it’s simply a way for us to get to know each other better

BSoR students matriculate from a variety of schools and areas across Central Virginia. A vast majority come from the local parochial schools and public middle schools; however, some students transfer from other private schools.

Each school day starts at SGHS with morning gathering at 7:35 a.m. and morning formation at 7:30 a.m. for BCP. The school day ends for both schools at 3 p.m.

Yes. Students at Saint Gertrude and Benedictine are both required to wear a uniform.

The Benedictine Schools of Richmond prides itself on fostering an environment in which young men and women can mature in their faith with support from our community. However, admission to our schools is open to students of all faith backgrounds, and only 67% of our current students are Catholic.

Both schools offer a student-to-teacher ratio of 9:1 and an average class size of 17.

Bus transportation is available (for a nominal fee) with the bus picking up and dropping off students at predetermined locations. Currently, two bus routes are offered in the morning with one in the afternoon. Routes and locations may change based on the needs of the student body. Additionally, parents may drop-off and pick-up students in the designated carpool line. Students with a valid driver's license may park in the student designated parking lot, with special spots reserved for seniors. Complimentary bus transportation is provided for all athletes who need transportation to the Outdoor Athletic Center (OAC) for games and practices. Athletes are responsible for their own transportation home from the OAC.

Yes. BSoR has partnered with a local catering company to provide daily lunch offerings. Meals are paid for in advance through an online ordering system.

While community service is a requirement of our students at both schools, it is also an inherent part of both schools’ missions. Forty service hours are required for graduation from SGHS; eighty hours are required for BCP students.

Benedictine and Saint Gertrude provide challenging academic experiences while providing the necessary support to meet the learning needs of all students. The Student Support Team is designed to maintain the dignity and uniqueness of each individual with a diagnosed learning difference, and our learning support specialist provides a place for the students to attain various skills such as study techniques, time management, organizational strategies, and goal planning.

Graduates of the Benedictine Schools of Richmond attend a variety of colleges based on the needs and desires of each individual student. Our school counselors work with students and families during every stage of the college search and application process to help find the best university for each student. Some recent college enrollments of our graduates include: Catholic University, Duke, James Madison, Liberty, Notre Dame, Tennessee, University of Richmond, University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, VMI, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and William and Mary.

This past year, both graduating classes from Benedictine and Saint Gertrude were each awarded just shy of $3.4 million in scholarship money.
