The BSoR admissions team is ready to meet you, schedule a tour, and guide you through the enrollment process.

We want the application process to be as easy as possible. Here’s what you need to do:

List of 5 items.

  • Step 1: Apply Online

The Benedictine Schools of Richmond requires all applicants to fill out an online application that incorporates basic biographical data and essay questions.

Benedictine and Saint Gertrude mail and email admissions decisions on Friday, March 1. After the initial application deadline (January 19, 2024, for SGHS), we will continue to accept applications for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade and issue acceptances on a rolling basis, if space is available.

  • Step 2: Register for the SSAT

Create an account with The Enrollment Management Association to register for the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test), a standardized aptitude test that Benedictine and Saint Gertrude (and most independent schools) require all applicants to sit for. This test will help our team with the placement process for academic courses.
  • Step 3: Submit a Transcript Release Form

In order for us to obtain your current school record, it is necessary for a parent or guardian to give permission. Please download the appropriate transcript release form below, complete it, and return the signed request to the Admissions Office.

  • Step 4: Ask for Recommendations

Download the below recommendation forms and ask your current school to complete the following forms:
These candid assessments of each applicant will remain confidential and should be returned directly to the school.
  • Step 5: Schedule an Admission Interview

Upon receipt of your completed admission file, you will be contacted to schedule an interview. But don’t stress about your interview; this is simply a way for us to better get to know you. During the interview, applicants will be asked several questions regarding their applications and their interest in our schools. Also, this is a great opportunity for applicants to ask us questions about our schools, the integration of the Catholic faith, our rich traditions, the rigorous academics, and our competitive athletic program.
