Marketing Associate Job Description
Full-Time, 12-month employee, benefits-eligible Start Date, Immediate Opening
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond is hiring a marketing associate, a new position reporting to the director of communications. The ideal candidate will have experience in inbound marketing activities and a creative mind to help the two schools stay fresh and competitive. The ideal marketing associate will be a communicator with a breadth of skills and knowledge across various marketing disciplines who possesses both “left-” and “right-brain” abilities and understands brand integrity, storytelling, and experiential marketing. He/she should be a master storyteller and writer; a lover of words and brevity; can listen to someone talk for 30 minutes and distill their message into a single perfect sentence.
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond will rely on this marketing professional’s ability to collaborate with a team of thinkers and doers, as well as a strong capacity for managing multiple tasks at one time. He/she will be expected to prepare and present ideas and deliverables on a regular basis, and research market trends and industry data to help us stay on the cutting edge.
Objectives of this Role
- Create compelling narrative media pieces about the individual and collective Saint Gertrude and Benedictine experiences, as well as integrating these stories across all channels
- Support director of communications in delivery of effective marketing programs that achieve school fundraising and admission objectives
- Assist in execution of a variety of marketing initiatives that drive brand awareness, grow school enrollment, encourage donor relationships, and increase fundraising
- Create compelling content (both print and digital) that supports the two schools’ missions and educational philosophy and further enhances their brand in the community
- Oversee the schools’ external websites, including developing, updating and posting content, exploring and developing new features
- Analyze and grow online presence by maintaining and creating content for the schools’ websites, enhancing search engine optimization, and using Google Analytics and digital advertising
- Execute engaging lead generation admissions campaigns in HubSpot and internal email communications through Blackbaud
- Design marketing collateral for websites, social media, email campaigns, advertisements, and other communications, under the direction of the communications director
- Serve as primary content creator for schools’ annual periodicals
- Educate internal and external community members on the educational philosophy of BSoR via school publications and media
- Promote the Church’s teachings on life, gender, human dignity, and the complementarity of the sexes
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, or related field
- 2-4+ years of experience in marketing or advertising preferred
- Hands-on experience developing lead generation campaigns
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite), and applications (HubSpot, web analytics, Google Adwords, etc.)
- Proven success in a fast-paced environment, working with a team and individually
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines; is data-driven
- Exceptional oral and written communication skill
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in independent schools or non-profit organizations
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development tools desired
- Experience with video editing software a plus
