Benedictine holds 113th Commencement May 29

Benedictine College Prep graduates 76 Cadets.

As the overflow crowd settled into the last available seats in the McMurtrie-Reynolds Pavilion on the morning of May 29, the Benedictine pipe and drum corps kicked off its rousing music to herald the occasion. Members of the class of '75 celebrating their 50th reunion processed in first, followed by the faculty and staff, and then the big moment arrived -- the entry of the class of 2025, 76 Cadets strong.

Various speakers delivered addresses during the ceremony, including Vice President of Mission Delos Smith IV '01, Head of School Greg Lilly, and President of the Benedictine Schools of Richmond Jesse Grapes. Also speaking were valedictorian George Townley, salutatorian Thomas Gasperini,  and a representative of the class of '75, Mr. Frederick "Freddy" Siewers III.

After receiving their diplomas, the class of 2025 formed a circle in the middle of the floor, for the traditional spinning of the plate to signify the end of their journey at BCP. And when the plate stopped spinning, covers were thrown into the air in jubilation, and the brotherhood clasped each other in hugs and handshakes, before being joined by congratulatory friends and family.

The class of 2025 were accepted into 119 different colleges and universities, and matriculated to 35 of them.
