JeJuan Hutchins '26 Reflects on Leadership, Faith and a Favorite Football Memory

Senior JeJuan Hutchins '26 is featured in an article in the Fall 2025 issue of Benedictine Schools of Richmond's annual magazine The Towers, a distinction for which he is fully deserving.

A military, athletic, and faith leader on campus, JeJuan Hutchins '26 quite simply represents the best a Cadet can be. The "Student Spotlight" article about Hutchins, which covers those key aspects of his Benedictine experience and more, is available here in a flipbook version of the entire issue of The Towers. The full issue can also be found anytime in the Newsroom, in the Publications section, along with previous issues of The Towers, Labora, Endowment Reports, and Annual Reports.

Hutchins got his first taste of military leadership as a freshman when filling in for his squad leader. Despite being in only his first year, he ably took command and fulfilled all his duties, earning the attention of the leadership of the cadre. His dedication and promise were fulfilled in the spring of 2025 when he was named Executive Officer of the Corps of Cadets. In the summer of 2025, Hutchins participated in the BSoR mission trip to Honduras, further growing his already strong faith. In the fall of 2025, Hutchins was a key member of the varsity football team, leading them to a third straight state championship.

In the article, Hutchins references memorable moments from his freshman year, the expectations he had for taking on the role of Executive Officer in the Corps of Cadets, and how Benedictine has helped him grow as a leader. Hutchins also outlines his faith journey here, credits some of his favorite faculty members and classes, and talks about resilience – in discussing the process of overcoming a huge regular season loss on the football field to win the state championship just a few weeks later.

At the time, he was referencing his sophomore year, and his first state championship. History repeated itself in the fall of 2025, with a resounding bounce-back title game shutout victory for the Cadets. The dominating and impressive performance displayed the guidance of the coaching staff, the character of the team and their outstanding talent.

After the season concluded, Hutchins was named to the All-State 2nd team by VISAA and the Honorable Mention All-Metro team by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Fulfilling a long held dream, Hutchins will continue playing football in college. Recently, Hutchins announced his commitment to West Virginia State, where he will undoubtedly continue to lead.
