Benedictine College Preparatory and Saint Gertrude High School have a collection of 65 named and endowed scholarship funds. As of June 30, 2023, these endowed scholarships were valued at $14.2 million.

Endowed scholarships are awarded to current students based upon academic performance, specific scholarship criteria, and an essay.

  • Tax Credit Scholarship

The Virginia Education Improvement Scholarships Tax Credits Program provides state tax credits for persons or businesses making monetary or marketable securities (such as stocks or bonds). These are donations to approved scholarship foundations that provide scholarships to eligible students (at or below 300% of the poverty level) for qualified educational expenses incurred in attending eligible nonpublic schools.

Last year, 34 eligible Benedictine students received assistance via this program. The amount of assistance received distributed due to the generosity of our donor base was nearly $145,000.

There is no guarantee of participation. Additionally, proof of eligibility must be ascertained through a review of various financial documentation (such as the most recent tax returns). For more information on this program, please contact Director of Admission Greg Lilly at 804.708.9504.
  • Corporate Internship Program

Select Benedictine students may participate in the Corporate Internship Program (CIP) which provides substantial tuition relief in exchange for participants' working for local business sponsors. Students are selected to participate in the program for all four years, and tuition relief is generally based on the amount of labor that is required of the student.

All of the work obligations take place during off-school hours, and some work may be more physical in nature than others. Each CIP participant will perform a total of 1,000 hours prior to graduation. Students will either intern directly with their sponsors or perform community service in the name of the sponsoring corporation(s) if the corporation is not suitable for under-16 work.
